We were best of friends when Marty lived in Indy. We did everything together. I was looking her up on face book when I saw the obituary. She was a very special person. I look forward to seeing her again in heaven. Close

I worked with Marty and Steve at Boeing. Knowing each of them was a joy! I will always remember Marty's good humor and warm smile. She was one of those people who you just knew from that start had an open and kind heart. We can all be better people if we try to live more like Marty did.
My deepest sympathies to Steve and the rest of Marty's family.
Marty and I became friends in high school. She was a strong infuence in my decision to join West Side Christian Church and to go to Manhattan Bible College. Memorable moments included when we set fire to the girl's dorm because we left a hot plate on while we went to evening devotions. After our lives went different ways it was a real treat to meet Steve and Marty for dinner in 2006 in Parsons KS where I lived for a few years. I was not surprised to learn of the impact she has had on the people around her and I know she will be sorely missed by all. My prayers and love are with Steve and Rachel and with Marty's boys as you all find your way through this time.

I worked with Marty at Boeing in the early 90's. She was my instant friend. We worked we laughed we cried we joked we lived.
My thoughts & prayers go to you for the loss of Marty. We know she is in a much better place and you will see her again. But I know your hearts are still heavy.
I remember all the fun times all the kids had at WSCC, especially when Doug Peake was there.
I had thought many times, I wanted to write to you in Tz. as Uncle Dewey and Aunt Jo told me you were missionaries there. My daughter in law is from Tanzania (Dar Es Salaam) & her parents are still there; along w/siblings. Because of this, I have learned many things of their culture.
I, also sponsor a girl in Arusha. I have sponsored her for many years and it is one of the greatest blessings I have in my life.
So many great memories of you & Marty at Singles Retreats and Super 7 Days in Colorado! She was always had such a great smile and was full of joy and insight! I am so so sorry to hear of her passing and am looking forward to when we will all be back together for our Super Days Forever! God Bless You, Much Love & Prayers to you and your Family during this difficult time.

Dear Steve and Family, The pain is real • There is no such thing as pleasantness in someone’s death • The one we love is gone, and the memories and experiences of life together remain • We weep as Jesus wept • We mourn • But we know that the apostle Paul tells us that we are not to mourn as those who have no hope • For in Jesus the hope of eternal life is a reality • We know that what Paul says is true, but there is sorrow in our hearts • We know the promise, but we grieve at the loss • May God comfort you in His everlasting arms • May His peace fill you • May His promise of eternal life sustain you • Time moves on • Move on in hope • Because Jesus lives, we shall live also • In His Love, Dick & Betty Borchard Close

We are praying for God's peace and comfort for your family and hopeful for the day that we will all be in heaven and out of this temporary existence on earth.

Dear Steve and Rachael, just received word of Martys death. How your hearts are aching and hurting. The energy and love Marty showed will always be a part of us. She was doing what she loved the most, serving the people of Tanzania. You are in our prayers.
Love you much Tom and Melody and First Christian Church.

Steve & Rachel, It is so hard to put into words how deeply our hearts ache for you at this time. What a servant of the Lord Marty was not only here in the US but especially in Tanzania. She was such an example of Jesus to all she encountered. We treasure the times we were able to spend with you and Marty in the past few years. Marty's encouragement and love has made an impact not only on us but to many around this world. We have held tight to the words of encouragement she gave to us as a family during a very difficult time and major bump in our lives. Although we know she is celebrating in heaven, we will miss the chance to sit and chat around the dinner table here on earth. We continue to pray for you. Close
To Steve, Rachel, Nathan, Matthew and Natalie and children...
Our prayers are with you during this difficult time. We pray God will bless you with HIS peace and comfort. Marty's work for the Kingdom will not be forgotten. Only Heaven will reveal the results of her love and dedication to spreading the Gospel.

Dear Steve & Rachel,
We had the pleasure of meeting your family & learning of your mission work a few years ago while attending Crestview Christian Church in Manhattan, KS. We were so sad to learn of Marty's sudden death. But know that she is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Our prayers will continue to be with you in this difficult time.

Steve and Rachael and family, I was so saddened to hear of Marty's passing. She was such an amazing Godly woman, a shining example of God's love. I always enjoyed her e-mails and newsletters that kept us all in touch with all of you and the progress of your missionary work in Africa. Every e-mail and newsletter were interesting, even to people who did not even know your family. I pray that you will find comfort in the arms of our loving God and all the many friends and family praying for you. Close

Dear Steve, I am so sorry and devastated! You and Marty were the ultimate team. I loved the time that I spent in Tanzania. Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality. Marty was an amazing hostess. She was so creative, witty, wise, and loving. I loved walking down the streets of Arusha with her. She knew everyone. I loved the way you worked together, and found new ways to minister to the people of Tanzania. You and Marty have definitely made the world a better place. Please give my love to Rachel, Rachel Marty, and Peter, too. Close

We didn't get to see Marty much these last few years but the time spent with her was special. Our lunch visits at B&C Creations, Jacks, Tallianos, et. were always fun. She was one of the kindest people you will ever meet. She was quick with a comeback and quick with a smile. I will miss her always calling me "Mr. Swanson". She left to early from this earth and will be dearly missed. Close
My memories of Marty go back to the days of when she & Steve were leaders in Positive Christian Singles at Immanuel Baptist Church, Wichita, KS. I remember her zaniness & fun loving nature.
Later on, I discovered that she & Steve had indeed married & were missionaries in Africa & that the church I attended was one of their sponsors! I know they don't remember me but I remember all of the fun back in the days when I was dealing with the loss of my marriage due to divorce. Thanks, guys, for helping me. May God comfort & sustain you, Steve. God bless.
